These days, you can enjoy a variety of cannabis edibles – including the Dreamland luxury chocolate bars! Eating something that’s infused with premium cannabis is considerably different from smoking marijuana. When you smoke cannabis, you’re essentially smoking the flower itself. Things are slightly different when you consume chocolate edibles that are infused with cannabis.
How do edibles and flower differ from one another? Allow us to explain…
The effects and potency
Starting off, there are differences in how you’re affected by edibles and the cannabis flower. Edibles are metabolized into your liver, which means they take longer to settle into your system and elicit various effects. By contrast, smoking cannabis will lead to faster effects. However, edible highs typically last for around 5-6 hours, while the effects of smoking a pre-roll will wear off in an hour or so.
Generally speaking, cannabis-infused edibles are the more potent of the two options. This is because the THC in these products gets metabolized by the liver, which turns it into 11-hydroxy-THC. Without getting too complex, this is a metabolite which can cross the blood-brain barrier, making you feel more high. So, edibles take longer to kick in, but the effects are more potent and longer-lasting.
Issues with dosage
The problem with cannabis edibles is that they can be tough to dose. To make matters worse, people regularly take too many edibles because they don’t feel the effects right away. With the flower, it’s easy to figure out the dose based on how high you feel. If you’re still feeling too mellow, you can up the dosage with ease.
Legally, 10mg of THC is the standard dose for chocolate edibles – and any other edibles – like ours. This works out as one square of our cannabis-infused chocolate. So, you should only really eat one of them at a time. Dosing with flower typically will depend on the user, but most people smoke one pre-roll as a dose.
Health concerns
Naturally, the critical concern with the cannabis flower is that smoking might present specific health problems. Filling your lungs with any type of smoke isn’t going to be too good for you if you consume a lot, but more research is needed on smoking cannabis. This is where our luxury edibles really offer something different. The health concerns are significantly reduced when you don’t have to smoke cannabis. Plus, because of the concentrated dosage, you can restrict yourself from binging on a bar of chocolate per day!
As you can see, edibles and cannabis flower are quite different. The way THC enters the body is different, and this changes the effect as well. So, if you’re looking for an alternative way to enjoy cannabis, then consider trying some of our luxury edibles!
